Resources
The Youth Outdoor Participation Project is structured to fit in the current system at holiday home camp. As a direct result of that, the start up costs are reasonably minimal. The two primary costs as you can see below are two instructor payrolls and gas for transportation between HHC and Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy for. Gas is figured in at current Williams Bay gas prices. In total the start up cost for Y.O.P.P. In its first operating year is $7,130 (move cursor over chart for specific values).
First aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis certification is required for this position.
Facilities
Y.O.P.P. will need access to no less than a half acre and no more than one acre of forest land on HHC property, this area will preferably be set aside exclusively for Y.O.P.P. activities. On these grounds we will designate specific areas to conduct Y.O.P.P. Projects; as this is an environmental education program, we will take care of the local ecosystems and ensure that no harm is brought to them. In addition Y.O.P.P. will use the facilities at Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy.
Equipment
Y.O.P.P. programming is based primarily on using what the natural environment provides. What little equipment needed can be covered in an initial $250 cost, and an annual $100 upkeep cost.
Below is a list of what we will need:
- Bungee Shock Chord (100ft, 350lb tensile strength)
- Manila rope (100ft)
- Basic Lumber (4, 11ft boards)
- 4 Shears
